What is a home win tip?
A Home Win tip backs the team playing at home – the team listed first – to win the match in normal time. In betting it’s often called the “1” in a 1X2 market, where X is the draw and 2 is the away win. If the home side wins by any score, the tip wins. A draw or an away win means the tip loses, which is the main thing to remember: the draw is your enemy in this market.
Results are normally settled on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalties in cup ties don’t count. At a neutral venue, the “home” team is simply the one listed first.
How much is home advantage worth?
Home teams have historically won more often than away teams, thanks to familiar surroundings, no travel and the backing of their own fans. But home advantage is smaller than many people think, it varies a lot between leagues and clubs, and on its own it isn’t a reason to back a team.
